CalyxBox grows functional mushrooms on our own farm in Gurnee, Illinois, and supplies them two ways. Bulk ingredients by the pound for the teas, kits and formulas you make, and finished MotorSpores products ready for your shelf. A grower, not a middleman.
The partnership
A grower, not a middleman.
We grow Reishi, Lion's Mane, Turkey Tail and Shiitake from culture to harvest, and process every batch in our licensed facility. Whether you build your own teas, kits and formulas or want finished products ready for the shelf, we supply both, grown and processed by the same hands.
Because we grow in small batches, partners receive a monthly allocation of each harvest, direct access to the grower, and hand delivery within days, not weeks. Larger volumes can be planned with notice.

From culture to shelf
Every step, in-house.
A calyx protects the flower while it grows. We protect every harvest the same way: grown clean, dried at its peak, sealed, tested, and traced back to the block it came from.

Culture and grow.
Every species starts from our own cultures, so genetics and quality stay consistent. Blocks are sterilized, inoculated and fruited on a hardwood substrate in climate-controlled rooms.

Harvest at peak.
Picked by hand at peak maturity. Reishi takes about twelve weeks, Lion's Mane about four.

Dry to lock it in.
Gently dehydrated, or freeze-dried under vacuum, within hours of harvest, to hold color and aroma.
04
Mill, test and release.
Cut, milled and sealed in light-blocking bags on site. Each lot is recorded, sampled for third-party testing, and released with its own lot number.

Reishi
Ganoderma lucidum · fruiting body
Part of East Asian herbal tradition for roughly two thousand years, where it is known as lingzhi. Woody and pleasantly bitter, it comes alive simmered into teas and decoctions or balanced with warming spices.
